Helping the development of personalised orthopaedics

STL Surgical Technology Lab

Research at Surgical Technology Lab joins up clinical and engineering expertise to improve patients’ lives and surgeons’ experience.

Our research helps understand how best medical imaging can be used to prevent and diagnose disease, plan and deliver joint replacement and reconstruction surgery, through advanced image analysis of each patient pre and post-operatively.

Our aim is to improve musculoskeletal function in humans; in patients with hip and knee problems and also those with replacements and ultimately to help minimise the healthcare, patient and societal costs of arthroplasty.

Personalised Medicine

“A move away from a ‘one size fits all’ approach to the treatment and care of patients with a particular condition, to one which uses new approaches to better manage patients ”
